a little oasis in the Heart of Milwaukee, WI.

Private sauna @ Zócalo

This is less like a spa experience and more like a backyard hang. Have a good sweat, and catch up with friends. Relax outside in the cold air or inside the gently heated greenhouse. Repeat this 3-4 times. Then follow it up with an ice-cold beer and some killer food from the Zócalo vendors.

November - May

  • November 1 - May 1

You must be at least 18 years old to use the sauna.

All sessions will be held rain or shine (or sleet or snow).

The reservation is private for your party of up to six people (the seating area on each side is about 4.5 feet).

There is no cold plunge or cold showers, this is not really an option with the location. However, it’s winter in Wisconsin, so we’re pretty sure we’ve got the cold part down.

There is a small gently heated greenhouse with lockers next to the sauna to change in.

Reservations are for 75 minutes, including changing time.

Parking is available in the Zócalo parking lot and on the street.

We are located south of the Zócalo Tavern building near Pierce St.

  • Please shower before arriving.

Do not wear any type of lotion, oil, perfume, or deodorant. These will inhibit the sweating process, can irritate the other guests, and can damage the wood.

We offer lockers with locks in the changing room, but you will still be responsible for your belongings.

Bring a swimsuit, towel, and sandals or slip-on shoes that can get wet in the rain or snow.

Feel free to bring your own robe or you can rent one for $6, towels can be rented for $4.

Please arrive fully hydrated! We recommend drinking 32 oz of water before arriving. Do not drink alcohol before the sauna.

We recommend bringing a plastic water bottle; water will also be provided. No glass of any kind is allowed in the sauna.

We recommend a small snack 90 minutes before your session, save the larger meal for after.

  • Meet at the small greenhouse next to the sauna 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to go over details and to confirm everyone has signed the health waiver. The sauna is located on the south side of the Zócalo Tavern building.

You will receive instructions for the sauna session and questions will be answered. You can change in the greenhouse or the public restrooms. We recommend arriving with your suit under your clothes so you can quickly disrobe and place your clothes in the lockers provided.

You will receive a small towel to place on the bench when you sit down.

There will be a bucket of water and a ladle. Slowly drizzle water over the rocks; hot steam will fill the room.

After about 10-15 minutes, exit the sauna and relax in the cold air. When you begin to get cold, simply go back into the sauna and start the process again. Listen to your body and do what feels good. Ideally, you will have 3-4 hot and cold sessions total.

Make sure you are drinking water the entire time.

No food or drink is allowed in the sauna, with the exception of plastic water bottles.

There are no showers; simply dry off when you are finished. Remember, sauna bathing IS bathing.

Get dressed. An attendant will return at the scheduled end time to check you out.

  • All sauna sessions are 75 minutes, including changing time. The sauna will be private to your party. Tax is included in price.
